(November 12, 2013) – The City of Portland Bureau of Transportation advises the traveling public that SW 11th Avenue will be closed to southbound vehicle travel between SW Gibbs Street and SW Gaines Street beginning Wednesday Nov. 13 through Friday Dec. 6, from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day.

This lane closure is necessary install a concrete bus pad at a transit stop on SW 11th Avenue. Crews will need to remove and replace both the base and surface layers of the street to stabilize its foundation and prevent potholes and other surface distresses. Bus pads help pavement last longer.

The new bus pad is part of a project that rebuilt most of SW 11th Avenue earlier this year. Parking meters on Marquam Hill are paying for most of the sidewalk and related project elements.

The northbound lane will remain open at all times. 

A detour will be in effect to accomplish this work. Southbound traffic on SW 11th Avenue will be detoured East onto SW Gibbs Street to SW Sam Jackson Park Road, then south onto SW U.S. Veterans Hospital Road. Continue following to West on SW Gaines Street to Northbound on SW 11th.

The public is advised to expect delays, travel cautiously and observe all work zone signage.
