News Release: Portland urges public to use caution Sunday Feb. 9 when traveling, support local businesses
(4:30 p.m. February 9, 2014) The City of Portland urges the traveling public to use caution, as snow and isolated icy conditions persist in the area.
"Thank you for staying off the roads today," said Transportation Director Leah Treat. "Portland streets are a lot safer than they were this morning. With the public's help keeping roads clear, and the hard work of transportation crews, the busiest streets are now passable again. We still urge caution on residential streets and sidewalks, where snow and ice remain. Depending on your area, it may be safe to walk to local businesses. We recommend using public transit and walking with caution if you must travel."
For those who need shelter, information about warming shelters is available by calling 211. For information about the latest closures and disruptions see PublicAlerts.org
