Traffic Advisory: Street Improvements to close SE 22nd Avenue between SE Powell Blvd and Lafayette St March 17 to April 7
(March 11, 2014) – The City of Portland Bureau of Transportation advises the traveling public that street improvements will require a street closure on SE 22nd Avenue between SE Powell Boulevard and SE Lafayette Street Monday, March 17 through Monday, April 7, all hours, all days.
Traffic detours will be in place. Both sidewalks will be kept open for pedestrians and bicyclists.
This work is necessary to repair the concrete street surface that was damaged by a water main break that occurred in the February storm. During this project, sections of the concrete road in the southbound lane will be removed and replaced with a new concrete surface. It then will be allowed to cure for approximately seven days. After the concrete is cured, the process will be repeated in the northbound lane.
Detours are as follows:
Southbound traffic on SE 22nd Avenue will be detoured east onto SE Powell Boulevard to SE 26th Avenue, south onto SE 26th Avenue to SE Gladstone Street then west to SE 22nd Avenue.
Vehicles needing access east of SE 22nd Avenue on SE Lafayette Street should use SE 21st Avenue. Some on-street parking will need to be removed during the project on SE 22nd Avenue.
Parking will be restored as soon as construction is completed. This lane and parking closure will be in effect 24 hours each day. The public is advised to expect delays, travel cautiously, and observe all work zone signage.
This work is weather-dependent and the schedule may change. ###
