(April 23, 2014) – The City of Portland Bureauof Transportation advises the traveling public that street improvements require the closure of SE Holgate Boulevard between SE 55th Avenue and SE 56th Avenue through Friday, May 2, 7 a.m. through 3 p.m. each day.
TriMet buses will be allowed on SE Holgate Boulevard, all other motorized vehicles will be detoured. Local access to residences and businesses will be provided.
The public is advised to expect significant delays while repairs are being made. We ask the public to travel cautiously, observe all lane closures and directions by flaggers, and use alternate routes if possible.
The lane closures are necessary to allow crews to repair the failed road base and stabilize the foundation of the road to prevent potholes and other surface distresses. The current pavement is only four inches deep and built on soil and has failed on part of the block. Crews are repairing the street with a crushed rock base layer and then paving to the city standard of eight inches deep.
Eastbound traffic is being detoured north to SE 52nd Avenue to SE Foster Road to SE Holgate Blvd.
West bound traffic is being detoured north onto SE 57th Avenue to SE Mall Street, west to 52nd Avenue then south back to SE Holgate Blvd.
This work is weather-dependent and the schedule may change.
