(February 19, 2015) The final Fix-It Fair of the season takes place this Saturday, February 21st from 9:30 am to 3:00 pm at David Douglas High School (101 SE 135th Ave) and there are a number of great reasons why you should be there. Fix-It Fairs are free and offer Portlanders the opportunity to connect with your neighbors and talk to the experts on a range of topics including health, food and nutrition, water and energy savings, gardening and even active transportation. See the brochure for the February 2015 Fix-It Fair here.
Reason no. 1: Our own Safe Routes to School program will again offer free minor bike repairs for students and families. Mechanics from Bikes for Humanity and Bike Farm volunteer their time to fix as many bikes as possible at the fair. Please deliver your bike for repair before 2:00pm to give our volunteer mechanics plenty of time to complete their work before the fair ends at 3:00pm.
Reason no. 2: Portland By Cycle will offer an All-Season Cycling class at 12:00 Noon. Experienced riders will share their tips and techniques for staying warm, dry, comfortable and safe while riding year round.
Reason no. 3: This fair will offer a series of workshops in Spanish and as always, free on-site childcare and lunch will be provided.
For more information on the Fix-It Fairs, check out the Bureau of Planning and Sustainability’s website or download the brochure (pdf) for Saturday’s event.
