- Students in all grades are walking, biking and rolling a lot. For students living under 1 mile from school, K-5th graders are using active transportation for about 60% of their school commute trips; for older 6th-8th graders it is 76% of trips.
STUDENT MODE SHARE, HOME-TO-SCHOOL DISTANCE 0-1 MILE
- Half of all K-8 students use more than one way to get to school throughout the week.
- Up to a quarter of all students commute entirely by walking, biking or rolling.
- More K-8 students are walking (32%) than are being dropped off in a single family (non-carpool) vehicle (30%).
