(July 22, 2015) The Northeast Sunday Parkways returns on Sunday, July 26th from 11am-4pm. The 8-mile route explores Northeast Neighborhood Greenways and incorporates Woodlawn, Alberta and Fernhill Parks as well as the new Kʰunamokwst Park bringing all the fun activities, festive music and delicious food you’ve come to expect at these events.
Kʰunamokwst Park (pronounced KAHN-ah-mockst - click to hear the full pronunciation) is the first developed park located in the Cully Neighborhood and was opened in April. Kʰunamokwst is a Chinook wawa name meaning “together”. Kʰunamokwst will be the first PP&R park to enjoy a name indigenous to the land it sits on. Chinook wawa is the language commonly used by the original people of this area. Be sure to stop by Kʰunamokwst Park to check out Sparkle Movement Entertainment Hoops and dancing and the bilingual community bike safety fair, hosted by Andando en Bicicletas en Cully.
