A group of young people, ages 13-21, that strives to provide a voice for youth in the County and City's work. In addition to its advisory role within local government, the MYC provides youth input to its parent organization the Commission on Children, Families & Community and also works to improve the community through service projects. The MYC works to change policy affecting young people, as well as stereotypical community perceptions.
The MYC established a Sustainability Committee in response to the community's request for a free TriMet transit pass for all high school students throughout the year. They have a formal partnership with OPAL Environmental Justice Oregon through their Bus Riders Unite (BRU) campaign. Together they are working to maintain the current YouthPass program within Portland Public Schools, expand the program to other East Portland school districts, and broaden transit access for all youth in East County.
