Scorecards & Tracking
To participate in Walk + Bike Challenge Month students will need to track all of their walk, bike, and roll trips to and from school. Each school Challenge coordinator will decide how trips will be recorded (in the classroom or by each student) and how often trip totals should be submitted (weekly or monthly). See below for some different tracking options and scorecards.
It is important for Challenge coordinators to record the number of participants at walknbike.org. You can either record weekly or monthly.

The Classroom Scorecard
recorded by: students
where: in class
frequency: turn in to Challenge coordinator at the end of each week
The classroom scorecard can be displayed in a classroom with each student name on a separate line. Students mark off their walk, bike, and roll trips as they arrive at school or as they leave for the day.
This is a good option if you want to keep track of individual student trips to see who biked, walked, or rolled the most days. It is also a great visual reminder for students.
Classroom Hand Tally Scorecard
recorded by: teacher or designated student
where: in class
frequency: turn in to Challenge coordinator at the end of each week
This is a good option if you want to keep track of which classroom had the most participants or the highest number of bike, walk, or roll trips. The classroom hand tally scorecard is a quick and easy way to get a classroom total for walk, bike, and roll trips. The teacher or a designated student asks the whole class how they got to school. Students raise their hand for each mode and a total is recorded for each day. The school Challenge coordinator will collect the classroom cards after each week and provide new cards for the following week.
Student Weekly Scorecard
recorded by: student
where: at home or school
frequency: turn in to Challenge coordinator at the end of each week
The student weekly scorecard is given to each student to track their own trips (one card for each week). School Challenge coordinators will collect the cards after each week and provide new cards for the following week. This option does require students to be responsible for holding onto the cards.
recorded by: student
where: at home or school
frequency: turn in to Challenge coordinator at the end of May
The student monthly scorecard is given to each student to track their own trips (one card for the whole month). This option does require students to be responsible for holding onto the cards. Students turn in their scorecard to the school Challenge coordinator at the end of the month.
