News Blog: PBOT partners make Portland Safe Streets Fair a success

Nearly a dozen organizations helped promote traffic safety at the Portland Safe Streets Fair on June 6, 2016. People who attended the fair shared their vision for safe streets, pinpointed problem spots and learned about the city’s Vision Zero effort.

Living Cully and Verde hosted the event at Living Cully Plaza in Northeast Portland. Other partner organizations included AARP, Andando en Bicicletas en Cully, Bicycle Transportation Alliance, Black Parent Initiative, Elders in Action, Hacienda, Metro, Oregon and Southwest Washington Families for Safe Streets and Oregon Walks.

More than 40 people attended the fair, which provided food, childcare, prizes, Spanish translation and entertainment from bike-themed clowns.

PBOT will hold additional outreach events this summer leading up to the completion of the Vision Zero Action Plan, which will describe how Portland will eliminate traffic deaths and serious injuries. Partner organizations are contributing to this effort through an executive committee, a task force and a technical advisory committee.
