Portland is working hard to grow its urban forest and the City offers free or subsidized trees through the following programs. Each operates on their own timeline and may have restrictions, so be sure to check for details. Note these programs are only eligible for planting outside of development projects.
Friends of Trees works with volunteers to plant trees at low cost to homeowners
Get free trees for yards at one of PP&R Urban Forestry's annual giveaways at Arbor Day or in the fall.
PP&R Urban Forestry's Learning Landscape program helps students plant trees at their schools.
The Environmental Services Urban Tree Canopy Program works with community partners to plant trees for stormwater management
The Treebate program allows homeowners to apply for a refund on their sewer bill when they plant a tree on their property. This program is funded by the Bureau of Environmental Services
