This page will post important announcements from Urban Forestry and service level updates for permits.
Beginning November 17th, 2020, the following changes are in effect. The links in this notification will be updated with a new application form on November 17.
NEW Tree Pruning with Inspection Application + NEW $50 fee
• On November 17, the new application will be available for download here.
• Paper applications will continue to be accepted by mail and must include the $50 fee.

To qualify for a free self-issued online pruning permit through DevHub you must meet the following criteria:
Pruning is for branches less than 6 inches in diameter at attachment to the stem.
Pruning type is one or more of the following - young tree pruning, crown cleaning or crown raising for clearance of the street and sidewalk (7.5 feet above the sidewalk, 11 feet above residential streets, and 14 feet over arterial streets) as defined in the Street Tree Pruning Standards.
The tree is not a Heritage Tree.
If your tree pruning needs do not meet the self-issued permit criteria a Tree Pruning Permit Application with Inspection & $50 fee is required.

Due to system maintenance, Development HUB PDX (DevHub) will not be available on Wednesday, October 28, 2020 between 5 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. During this time, tree permit applications may not be submitted online and self-issued online pruning permits are not available. This ordinance will come before the Portland City Council on Thursday, Oct. 29, no earlier than 2 p.m. (time certain).
The City Council meeting will be held online.

As of Monday September 21, 2020 Urban Forestry inspections have resumed following improved air quality conditions. This includes Urban Forestry permitting inspections for development and non-development permitting. Permit issuance delays may continue as inspections were postponed September 14-18 during hazardous air quality conditions.
