In September 2013, the Portland Water Bureau officially began developing its Fiscal Year (FY) 2014-15 budget. In October, the bureau engaged its Budget Advisory Committee (BAC). The BAC, comprised of representatives of key stakeholders, members of the community, Portland Utility Review Board and labor representatives who work in the bureau, are closely collaborating with Water Bureau Administrator David Shaff, bureau directors and senior managers to develop the annual budget per City of Portland guidelines.
The Water Bureau is focused on developing a budget that is comprehensive and allows the bureau to continue to provide high-quality customer service and clean, safe drinking water to residents and businesses within the metropolitan area as well as to the bureau’s wholesale customers.
Members and staff are charged with reviewing, discussing, deliberating and work hand-in-hand. Together, we will accomplish the following tasks with the understanding and sensitivity to the continuing recessionary economic challenges facing residents and businesses throughout the service delivery area:

All BAC meetings are open to the public and the opportunity for comment is welcomed. The next BAC meeting is Wednesday, December 18, 2013, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at the Portland Building, 1120 SW 5th Avenue, Third Floor Fir Creek conference room.
