Portland Water Bureau crews are working on a water main at the intersection of Southeast 45th Avenue and Hawthorne Boulevard. The work will take place from approximately 8 p.m. until midnight Wednesday, Feb. 10 and from approximately 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 11.
The public may travel both east and west on Hawthorne during construction on Wednesday but the eastbound lane will transition into the center lane to redirect traffic around the work zone. Crews will close Southeast 45th Avenue between Hawthorne Boulevard and Madison Street on Thursday with a detour set up around the work zone.
Approximately 11 households and four businesses may be out of water service for four to six hours. Those affected homes and businesses have been notified.
Crews will return to the site on a future date to complete paving, which is dependent on weather.
The traveling public is reminded to stay alert and use caution as traffic may suddenly slow or stop. To avoid traffic delays, motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes around the work site.
