Mt. Tabor Adjustments Project Heading to the Finish Line

The construction project in Mt. Tabor Park that disconnected the open reservoirs from the water distribution system is coming to a close. It is expected that the contractor will be completed with all tasks in April 2017.

Below is a project update for February 2017.

SE Lincoln Park Entrance

The 42-inch pipe has been installed on SE Lincoln Street and the tie-in at the park entrance is completed. The roadway will be resurfaced with final paving when weather permits. In the meantime, temporary asphalt has been placed on the trench line. The park entrance is open and parking is allowed along SE Lincoln Drive up to the new construction site. SE Lincoln Drive will be closed at the intersection of SE Harrison Street and SE Tabor Drive (see next section), so there is no through traffic.

SE Lincoln Drive at SE Harrison Street and SE Tabor Drive

The work just below Reservoir 1 has been completed, and the area is undergoing restoration. The last large pipe work will now begin on SE Lincoln Drive in the roadway, between the concrete stairs that lead up to Reservoir 1 and the wood stairs that lead down to the dog park. SE Lincoln Drive will be closed to all vehicle through traffic. Every effort will be made to allow bike/pedestrian access during construction when it is safe. The dog park stairs will be closed on an intermittent basis as construction is underway. This work will take approximately 4-6 weeks to complete.

Work Area 7

Vault work will continue in Work Area 7, on the flat area between Reservoir 5 and Reservoir 6.

Reservoir 6 Gatehouse

A new generator is being installed in the Reservoir 6 gatehouse. This generator is required to provide emergency power to the Tabor Pump Station. While all the work will be done inside the gatehouse, park users may occasionally notice trucks using the service roadway/path in front of the gatehouse to deliver equipment.
