Appeal Information Sheet
Appeal item 1
| Code Section | OSSC 903.3.5.2 Residential Combination Services |
|---|---|
| Requires | A single combination water supply shall be allowed provided that the domestic demand is added to the sprinkler demand as required by NFPA 13R. |
| Code Modification or Alternate Requested | To allow the use of a combination fire/domestic water meter/line on a NFPA 13 automatic sprinkler system. |
| Proposed Design | The proposed design consists of a combination fire/domestic water meter/line for the permitted and approved NFPA 13 automatic sprinkler system for the building. Fire flow and domestic water demands are met with the proposed design. |
| Reason for alternative | The proposed combination fire/domestic water meter/line design was approved in permit #22-212375-000-00-CO for the proposed NFPA 13 automatic sprinkler system. Fire Bureau review of the required separate fire sprinkler permit determined that a separate, dedicated fire line is required for NFPA 13 automatic sprinkler systems. The alternate is being proposed to allow the combination water system to be installed with the approved NFPA 13 automatic sprinkler system due to site constraints preventing a separate fire line and vault be installed. Equivalent life safety and fire protection is maintained as the fire flow and domestic water demands are met with providing the combination water service. Please see accompanying attachments: Fire Flow information provided from the Water Bureau. See Fire Sprinkler plans on file and under review. The applicant has had discussions about this item with Wendi Colmone. |
