Appeal Information Sheet
Appeal item 1
| Code Section | OFC 2303.1 item #1 |
|---|---|
| Requires | Dispensing devices shall be located as follows: |
| Code Modification or Alternate Requested | Use proposed 2hr fire rated assembly in place of min 10ft lot line setback |
| Proposed Design | In-lieu of maintain the min 10ft setback, for the fuel pumps, we propose to create a 2hr fire barrier roughly 4' from the property line and install the pump approximately 5'-6" from the property line. We believe this 2hr fire barrier will provide an equivalent protection to the 10ft setback. The fire barrier will consist of an 8" concrete base up to 42" above grade. Above that will be structural steel columns to support the wall with light steel framing between and 2 layers of 5/8" type x sheetrock on both sides of the wall. For weather protection the wall will be clad with sheet metal siding. The wall will go up to the underside of the diesel canopy roof structure |
| Reason for alternative | To alleviate site constraints for maneuvering of semi trucks at the diesel fueling pumps. The proposed 2hr assembly will act as a barrier against the spread of fire between the proposed and adjacent sites / building, similar to how fire rating of exterior walls increases as the fire separation distant decreases. |
