Appeal Information Sheet
Appeal item 1
| Code Section | 300.8, 725.136 |
|---|---|
| Requires | 300.8 Installation of conductors with Other systems. 725.136 Separation from electric light, Power, Class1, |
| Code Modification or Alternate Requested | To allow, Power, LV, and Chilled Water lines to pass through a common J box before entering the equipment without separation in which they all serve. |
| Proposed Design | Purposed installing a gutter with barriers to keep separation. |
| Reason for alternative | The common J box is below the floor for a Cannon Bi Plane CT machine in a Hybrid Operating Room. The equipment has a 6" opening where all the High voltage, LV, and water lines pass through the floor into the base of the machine. All the utilities are kept separated until they meet in a common J box just below the floor. Cannon needs to have the utilities all be able to move freely in the J box below the floor. The Cannon equipment is motorized and needs to move freely in order to not catch on dividers. |
Appeal Decision
Allow the equipment to be mounted over the vault/box to allow the cables and tubing to enter the equipment as designed. Granted as proposed.
"The Administrative Appeal Board finds that the information submitted by the appellant demonstrates that the approved modifications or alternate methods are consistent with the intent of the code; do not lessen the health, safety, accessibility, life, fire safety or structural requirements; and that special conditions unique to this project make strict application of those code sections impractical.
