Code Modification or Alternate Requested

Remove counterbalanced stairs along with the last 4 rungs of the vertical ladder that hang below the 3rd floor platform.

Proposed Design

Fire rigs can still access the existing standpipes. 3rd floor platform will be the rescue platform. Rescue platform is less than 18 feet to finish grade.

Reason for alternative

Eliminate the ability for break-ins via access to the fire escape from ground level. Building will be empty and all windows and doors will be heavily secured. Fire exits include the fire escape on the west side and the main front entrance on the east side. Building currently under 120 day demo delay. Demo Permit to be submitted for review mid-July.
