Appeal Information Sheet

Appeal item 1

Code Section

2403.5

Requires

Fire code 2403 .5 use period. Temporary tents shall not be erected for a period of more than 180 days in a 12 mo. period.

Code Modification or Alternate Requested

We intend to build a permanent structure to replace our temporary tent and request that we can keep our temporary tent in place until August 1st 2026 to allow us time to file permits, design and build the new structure. We have met with Robert Keal in Life Safety, and discussed some ideas of what's possible with construction.
We are currently using our temporary tent to cover our outdoor patio space. We are having a hard time finding vendors to remove our tent and the cost of removal and replacement has become very cost prohibitive. We rely on our temporary tent to help increase revenue at our venue which helps ensure our business remains viable. Our tent meets egress requirements, we have no violations on record, the building is alarmed and secure and we have met fire inspections so far.

Proposed Design

The new permanent structure will be designed to meet all required codes. Materials used may include, wood, glass, steel, composite wood and metal. The intention of the design is to be an indoor/outdoor space.

Reason for alternative

The alternative structure will be safer, with better heat containment fire protection, life safety and energy efficiency.
