Appeal Information Sheet
Appeal item 1
| Code Section | R202 |
|---|---|
| Requires | 2023 ORSC Amendments - allows two stacked duplexes to be side by side in a non-sprinklered building |
| Code Modification or Alternate Requested | To construct two duplexes where ground floor has living areas and 2nd floor has sleeping areas for each unit. |
| Proposed Design | We don't understand the 'stacked' requirement. It seems that if all living areas are at ground floor and all sleeping rooms on the second floor - that the units have a better layout - with every unit having access directly to outdoor space. We feel that as we are proposing we don't think any life safety is sacrificed for any units. But - the 2023 ORSC amendments specifies 'stacked' units where one unit is entirely above the other unit. |
| Reason for alternative | This is asking for clarification of this amendment. We understand that each unit needs its own stair, will have fire separation per code, etc. but will not require to be sprinklered per the 2023 amendment. We don't feel that this is an alternative rather a clarification of the code amendment. |
