Requires

The fire apparatus access road shall extend to within 150 feet of all portions of the facility and all portions of the exterior walls of the first story of the building as measured by an approved route around the exterior of the building. This distance can be increased to 250 feet if equipped throughout with approved automatic sprinkler systems installed in accordance with Section 903.3.1.1 or 903.3.1.2

RECONSIDERATION TEXT:

We will provide the following fire-resistive enhancements:

  • Class A roofing assembly;
  • Non-combustible exterior cladding; and
  • Exterior walls lined with 5/8? Type X gypsum board.

Equivalency Rationale: These materials significantly improve fire resistance and delay flame spread. Similar combinations have been accepted in appeals 31781, 31810, and 31823, resulting in board approvals for extended hose reach.
