|---|---|
| Requires | Fire flow: The minimum fire flow and flow duration for one- and two-family dwellings having a fire-flow area that does not exceed 3,600 square feet shall be 1,000 gpm at 20 psi for 1 hour. For one and two-family dwellings exceeding 3,600 square feet, the required fire flow shall be as specified in PFC Appendix B, Table B105.1(1). FIRE HYDRANTS – ONE- AND TWO-FAMILY DWELLINGS AND ACCESSORY STRUCTURES: Where a portion of a structure is more than 600 feet from a hydrant on a fire apparatus access road, as measured by an approved route around the exterior of the structure(s), on-site fire hydrants and mains shall be provided. (PFC 507.5.1) |
| Code Modification or Alternate Requested | Requesting that the fire hydrant that was tested which is further than the required min. 600 feet be accepted as the fire hydrant for this purpose. The client is proposing to construct a duplex that will have fire sprinkler systems. |
| Proposed Design | Requesting that the hydrant that was tested that is further than 600 feet be allowed as the nearest hydrant. |
| Reason for alternative | Installing a new hydrant would be costly to this project. |
