Appeal Information Sheet

Appeal item 1

Code Section

503.1.1

Requires

Fire apparatus road shall extend to within 150 feet of al portions of the building.

Code Modification or Alternate Requested

To allow a greater distance from the end of the 20 foot wide emergency fire access lane or Killingsworth Street, as noted on the attached plan, than as stated in OFC 503.1.1

Proposed Design
  1. To install a NFPA 13R fire sprinkler system in the 4 unit residential building.
  2. Install a noncombustible roof on the building for additional fire resistance.
Reason for alternative

This is a reconsideration request to previously denied appeal #34964.

Existing buildings between the proposed building site and Killingsworth Street, the only access to the proposed building, is limited to 17.2 feet at its most narrow point. The 13R fire sprinkler will provide additional protection over the 13D system previously proposed and the non-combustible roof will provide additional fire resistance.
