Appeal item 1

Code Section

IFC CHAPTER 6, SECTION 604.4

Requires

Emergency power systems, including all appurtenant components shall be inspected and tested under load in accordance to NEPA 110 and 111.

NFPA 100 states it will be done monthly under load or as per the manufacturer's recommendation or the AHJ.

Code Modification or Alternate Requested
Proposed Design

Manufacturer's recommendation is for testing under load every other year. We would like to continue to test weekly without load and every other year with load for the nine emergency diesel generators at Lewis & Clark.

Reason for alternative

The cost for testing under load every month for nine generators will be $48,000.
