This morning PF&R fire investigators received information that an adult male was in or near the warehouse at the time of the fire. This new information led investigators to focus their search to determine if a body could be found at the scene of the fire. At 11:00am today, the remains of an adult male were found inside the building. Identification of the body and cause of death will be determined by the Oregon State Medical Examiners Office who has been called to the scene.
Fire Investigators have received information that would indicate the individual was using an area just outside of the affected warehouse for temporary shelter. At 2125 on friday June 7th, Portland Fire and Rescue responded to multiple reports of a commercial fire. Upon arrival, crews found heavy smoke and fire venting through the roof. A third alarm was called approximatley 8 minutes into the call. Several first in crews made an aggressive attack on the east side of the building and prevented the loss of several homes, however there is damage to surrounding homes, properties and cars. Fire crews had several difficulties to deal with including a partial collapse of the fire building early on, water supply issues and multiple adjacent structures to protect. Fire crews will be on scene through out the night.
