The Middle Fork Complex burning in Lane county was declared a conflagration yesterday at approximately 6:00PM. The Oregon State Fire Marshal (OSFM) mobilized the state’s Incident Management Red Team for unified command functions. Portland Fire & Rescue has sent five members to assist: an Incident Commander (IC) trainee, Liaison Officer, Planning Section Chief, Communication Unit Leader, and a Communication Technician trainee. The Middle Fork Complex currently consists of 12 fires that threaten homes with both Level 1 and Level 3 evacuations. Additional info can be found at: https://inciweb.nwcg.gov/incident/7745/

“All fire departments have a dual responsibility during wildfire season,” said Fire Chief Sara Boone. “Although our primary mission is to provide local emergency response coverage, this is our seventh deployment this season because we have an obligation under the state’s emergency mobilization plan to help during wildfire conflagration.”
