Early Morning Fire Burns Multiple food carts in Southwest Portland

At a little after 4:30 this morning Portland Fire crews responded to multiple food carts on fire in Southwest Portland. The food carts were located on SW4th Ave between Hall and College. Fortunately Portland fire station 4 is located at 5th and College so the response time was very short. The fire was quickly brought under control.

4-5 Food carts were burned. An Investigator is on scene. Total damages and a cause are not available at this time.
A PIO is responding to the scene.

Six total food carts were damaged by this mornings fire. Four will likely be a complete loss. These small carts typically run off of propane tanks and two of the tanks continued to leak for more than hour following the fire. This prompted road closures along SW 4th, SW 5th, SW College and SW Hall until 8 a.m.
The Arson Investigation Unit is still considering this fire as under investigation and a dollar value for the loss has not been determined.
